Do you wear medical jewelry that indicates you are on dialysis or have a fistula?  I was wondering about it and wanted to know about it.  Thanks for the input

Kayleah,
A great question!  I do wear a bracelet. It was given to me by my dialysis unit.  I also wore a necklace the entire 18 years I had a transplant.  The one I have now, I have been wearing for 10 years.

It has all my information on it:

1.  my name
2.  on hemodialysis
3.  my doctors name and phone number
4.  DOB

on the other side it has:

5.  diagnosis
6.  access type and location
7.  allergies

I never take it off unless I have to in the hospital for differenct procedures.
I recommend getting one.

I just started wearing medical jewelry......

Parents bought me an arm band and a tag on a chain to wear.  Still need to have them engraved with the necessary info, but feel a bit better traveling with the info. easily avaible(I flew from Spokane back to Portland, Oregon today).

getlife- your dialysis unit gave you one?   that's awesome....mine doesnt have them...i don't think....

I am in Canada so I got one through my hospital as a child after I started dialysis and it was through Medic Alert.

Yes, the information had to be changed once.  They did provide both of them.  My social worker took all the information and sent for it.
